Edinburgh University's Pollock Halls: A green campus with excellent facilities next to Holyrood Park and very close to the famous sights of Edinburgh! It includes classrooms and residences, common recreation areas, a self-service restaurant in the John McIntyre Conference Center as well as indoor and outdoor courts, all of which are a 20-minute walk away! In addition, next to the campus there is also a huge swimming pool! As the safety of the students is considered very important, there is staff available 24/7 on the campus and closed circuit CCTV monitoring. In the heart of Edinburgh, the campus is the ideal choice for those wishing to admire the historic city, as it is about half an hour's walk from the famous Royal Mile.
Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is considered one of the most popular destinations in Europe. In addition to its architecture, it is famous for its castles and stone streets in the center of the city and the surrounding green hills. Its center is divided into the Old Town with its medieval architecture, and the New Town with its neoclassical buildings. Edinburgh combines, in a unique way, calmness with intense life, the old with the modern element. It is important to note that both the Old and New Town are listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Nearby is the well worth a visit of Edinburgh Castle, the famous city of Glasgow and the medieval city of Stirling with its historic Great Hall castle. The picturesque area of Colinton is famous for its museums and art galleries where one can admire contemporary art. It is worth noting that Edinburgh is also called the "Athens of the North" as its citadel topographically has similarities with the Acropolis, but also "Dunedin", a name that comes from the Gaelic (Celtic language).
The accommodation of the students is on the university campus, in twin ensuite, with toilet and shower, and they also have a desk with a chair and a wardrobe with storage space for storing personal belongings.
The university has a 24hr security presence, CCTV and secure access entry systems.
The programme offers three meals daily (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the University restaurant. It’s self-service. On the day of the full-day excursion breakfast and dinner will be offered at the restaurant and lunch will be provided as packed.
A full and varied programme of sports, cultural and art activities takes place in the campus areas. This is another great opportunity for students to use the English language and also to have fun and get to know their peers from other countries.
The social programme is organised by the staff of the organisation and includes sports, team games (quiz nights, disco parties and treasure hunt) and cultural outings so get ready to party & fun!
The program could not miss visits to Stirling & Glagow as well as Edinburgh, where the students will get familiarised with the Scottish culture and enjoy the beautiful sights that each city has to offer! Thanks to the excellent location of the campus, the program is also suitable for additional visits to the sights of the city and the surrounding areas!
