Lessons at Earlscliffe, Breaking Digital

On the first day, all students take part in a placement test which will determine their language level. The classes are multi-national to encourage constant use of the language.

The teachers are qualified and certified in teaching English to students as a foreign language. At the end of the programme students receive a Certificate of Attendance and a graduation ceremony is held.

The educational programme is accredited and certified by reputable audit institutions of Great Britain.

  • Class size: max. 12 students
  • Books & Educational material: provided by the School

This two week programme is designed to equip students with the skills and know-how to critically challenge and interpret information, data and news in order to arrive at a balanced view on global ‘big issues’. The course will also teach students how best to communicate creatively their own ideas and opinions to the widest target audience.

This course is perfect for curious, well-informed students who think independently yet enjoy working collaboratively in dynamic teams. Students will harness technical skills in creating video, audio and text output to bring political, cultural and social discussion to the table.

Topics include:

  • Breaking Text: Focusing on print media and article writing, this project replicates the hustle and bustle of a newsroom through a series of investigative journalism assignments. Students will create newspaper articles and podcasts involving real-life interviews with the public, other students, and staff. Additionally, students will act as ‘reporters’ at the Think Global debates.
  • Breaking Sound: Expanding the focus to issues within the 21st-century media landscape, this project involves collaboration to create a podcast focusing on global current affairs.
  • Breaking Image: Exploring the power of imagery, this project teaches how to evoke feelings and reactions in social media, journalism, and marketing.
